3 Interrupted Actions:
గతంలో ఒక పని జరుగుతూ ఉన్న సమయంలో అకస్మాత్తుగా మరొక పని జరిగినట్లు తెలియజేయడానికి Past Continuous Tenseతో when ఉపయోగిస్తాము.
కొంతసేపటి నుంచి కొనసాగుతున్న పనిని Past Continuous Tenseలో, ఆ పనికి మధ్యలో జరిగిన చిన్న లేదా ఆకస్మిక సంఘటనను Simple Past Tenseలో రాస్తాము.
Structure
Subject + was/were + V4 + object + when + subject + V2 + object.
I was reading a book when the doorbell rang.
నేను పుస్తకం చదువుతూ ఉన్నప్పుడు డోర్బెల్ మోగింది.
ఇక్కడ:
- was reading — అప్పటికే కొనసాగుతున్న పని
- rang — మధ్యలో జరిగిన ఆకస్మిక సంఘటన
- when — రెండు సంఘటనలను కలుపుతుంది
When clauseను వాక్యం ప్రారంభంలో కూడా ఉపయోగించవచ్చు:
When the doorbell rang, I was reading a book.
గమనిక: When clause వాక్యం ప్రారంభంలో ఉంటే, దాని తరువాత comma పెట్టాలి. చివరలో ఉంటే సాధారణంగా comma అవసరం లేదు.
- I was walking to school when it started raining.
నేను పాఠశాలకు నడుచుకుంటూ వెళ్తున్నప్పుడు వర్షం మొదలైంది. - She was washing the dishes when the glass broke.
